Lily Hollister was raised in privilege as the daughter of prominent New York politician Bill Hollister and grew up alongside her closest friend, Carlie Cooper. As an adult, Lily moved easily through Manhattan society and began a romance with Harry Osborn, whose impulsive temperament and inherited wealth appealed to her own restless streak. When Bill Hollister positioned himself for a mayoral run, Lily became deeply invested in his success and increasingly entangled in the volatile world surrounding Harry, Norman Osborn, and Spider-Man.
Lily’s life changed irrevocably after she discovered one of Norman Osborn’s hidden Goblin caches through material connected to Harry. Inside, she came into contact with an unstable variation of the Goblin formula, which mutated her and allowed her to transform at will into the cackling, superhuman Menace. Rather than recoil from the change, Lily chose to weaponize it. As Menace, she staged attacks against her father’s campaign appearances, calculating that repeated “assassination attempts” would generate public sympathy and propel Bill Hollister into Gracie Mansion.

Operating from behind a Goblin-like guise, Menace quickly became one of the most dangerous new threats of Spider-Man’s Brand New Day era. She battled Spider-Man repeatedly, manipulated public perception during the mayoral race, and concealed her double life even from those closest to her. Her scheme ultimately unraveled when Harry learned that Lily was Menace, and on Election Day her identity was exposed publicly after she was struck with a Goblin antidote during a final clash with Spider-Man. The revelation devastated Bill Hollister and shattered Lily’s carefully engineered ascent.
Imprisonment did not end Lily’s connection to the Osborns. Norman Osborn soon drew her back into his orbit, and Lily later claimed to be carrying Harry’s child while participating in Norman’s plans surrounding the American Son identity. By this period the Goblin formula had further destabilized her body and mind, leaving her increasingly monstrous in appearance and more erratic in behavior. What began as political opportunism had become full immersion in the madness traditionally associated with the Goblin legacy.
Lily eventually became enmeshed in the Goblin Underground during the upheavals surrounding the Goblin King and the fall of the Superior Spider-Man. During those conflicts, Spider-Man used a Goblin cure on her, apparently stripping away the Menace persona and ending her life as a goblin-powered superhuman. Yet Lily’s story did not simply return to normal. During the AXIS period she resurfaced, memory damaged and operating under the identity of Queen Cat, serving for a time among the costumed converts gathered by Hobgoblin.
In later years Lily continued to drift between criminality, reinvention, and uneasy survival in the margins of Spider-Man’s world. Her history as Menace left a trail of broken relationships, public scandal, and permanent ties to the Osborn family through her son. More than most Goblin-affiliated adversaries, Lily represents not a lifelong criminal mastermind but a privileged young woman whose ambition, recklessness, and willingness to embrace transformation drove her into one of Spider-Man’s most chaotic villainous circles.
Strength Level: Menace possesses superhuman strength far greater than that of a normal human female of her age, height, and build, sufficient to lift several tons under optimal conditions.
Known Superhuman Powers: Menace possesses superhuman physical abilities as the result of exposure to an unstable variation of the Goblin formula. In her transformed state, her strength, speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes are all enhanced to levels well beyond human potential, enabling her to contend physically with Spider-Man for short periods. Her musculature and connective tissues are correspondingly reinforced, allowing her to withstand impacts and rapid aerial maneuvering that would seriously injure a normal human being.
In addition to raw physical enhancement, Menace exhibits the heightened coordination and acrobatic precision common to Goblin-formula subjects. She is capable of leaping great distances, clinging to or perching upon narrow surfaces with exceptional balance, and carrying out high-speed attacks while riding a Goblin glider. Her nervous system responds at a heightened rate, giving her reaction time and combat mobility superior to those of peak human athletes.

Menace’s altered physiology also grants her an increased resistance to injury and a limited regenerative capacity, allowing her to recover from physical punishment more rapidly than an ordinary human. Like other Goblin-derived mutates, she is prone to psychological instability, with the formula amplifying aggression, recklessness, and obsessive behavior. This instability can make her both dangerous and erratic in combat.
In battle, Menace typically combines her enhanced physical abilities with Goblin-themed equipment, using speed, shock tactics, and aerial assaults to overwhelm opponents. She is a cunning opportunist rather than a disciplined martial artist, but her unpredictability and willingness to exploit collateral chaos make her a formidable adversary.
Limitations: Menace’s powers are dependent upon her Goblin mutation and have been shown to be vulnerable to specialized Goblin cures or counter-serums. The same formula that empowers her also contributes to emotional instability and impaired judgment, which can undermine her long-term planning and leave her open to manipulation by stronger personalities.
Menance customarily employs Goblin paraphernalia, including a Goblin glider, pumpkin bombs, and related weaponry adapted from Osborn technology.
