Magnus Lensherr is the son of Magneto and Rogue, inheriting extraordinary mutant abilities from both parents. From a young age, it became apparent that Magnus possessed immense potential, possibly exceeding that of his father. However, his powers manifested in a dangerous and uncontrollable way, isolating him from others and shaping his early life.
Expand full history
As Magnus entered adolescence, his mutation developed a lethal side effect: physical contact with another person would transform them into steel. This condition forced him into isolation, encased in protective armor to prevent accidental harm. The emotional toll of this separation caused him to become increasingly withdrawn and introspective.
Magnus was eventually recruited by the Timebroker to join the multiversal team known as the Exiles. Alongside other displaced individuals, Magnus was tasked with repairing damaged timelines in order to preserve reality. The Timebroker warned that failure would result in catastrophic consequences for his home reality, including the accidental death of his mother and a renewed war led by his father.
During one of their earliest missions, the Exiles were sent to a world where mutants had been imprisoned by humanity. Misinterpreting their objective, the team freed Professor Xavier, only to discover that this version of Xavier had become a ruthless and vengeful figure. After Xavier unleashed devastation, Magnus realized that they had freed the wrong leader.
Determined to correct his mistake, Magnus led the effort to free Magneto, believing his father to be the true leader needed in that reality. During the mission, Magnus helped liberate hundreds of imprisoned mutants. However, the facility was rigged with a nuclear device designed to detonate if the prisoners escaped.
Unable to disarm the bomb due to its construction, Magnus used his powers to contain the explosion, encasing the entire island within a magnetic field. In doing so, he sacrificed his life to save the liberated mutants and allow this reality’s Magneto to lead them.
Magnus’s death marked him as one of the earliest casualties among the Exiles. Despite his short time with the team, his actions demonstrated courage, selflessness, and a desire to live up to the legacy of his parents. His ultimate sacrifice ensured the survival of an entire mutant population and altered the course of that reality.
Strength Level: Magnus possesses the normal human strength of a young man of his age, height, and build.
Known Superhuman Powers: Magnus is a mutant with the ability to manipulate multiple forms of energy, including magnetic fields, heat, radiation, and radio waves. Like his father, Magneto, he can generate powerful magnetic fields, allowing him to levitate himself and others, as well as manipulate metallic objects.
In addition to his magnetic abilities, Magnus possesses a dangerous secondary mutation: any direct skin-to-skin contact causes organic matter to transform into steel. This effect is instantaneous and lethal, making physical contact with others extremely hazardous.
Expand full details
Magnus’s powers show the potential to surpass those of his father, combining traditional magnetism with broader energy manipulation. However, his abilities remain unstable and difficult to control, particularly his transmutation effect.
To prevent accidental harm to others, Magnus wears specialized bio-armor that isolates him from direct physical contact. This armor allows him to interact with the world safely while containing his more dangerous abilities.
Limitations: Magnus cannot safely touch other individuals without transforming them into steel. His powers are emotionally influenced and were initially difficult for him to control, contributing to his isolation.
Magnus utilizes protective bio-armor designed to contain his powers and prevent accidental contact with others. He otherwise relies entirely on his mutant abilities.
