History: Very little is as yet known about the South African mutant who calls himself Maggott. Sister Maria de la Joya of the Holy Sepulchre Orphanage encountered Maggott when he was searching for the mutant known as Joseph in Guatemala. Maggott then tracked Joseph to the small town of Pine Bluff, South Carolina, and finally to New York City. Exactly why Maggott was looking for Joseph and what he may know about Joseph's past remains unclear.

Maggott ended up becoming a member of the X-Men, the team of mutant adventurers, which Joseph had joined. Maggott's own background and the nature of his relationship with the two large slugs that accompany him so far remain mysteries.

Strength level: Maggott possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in moderate regular exercise.

Known superhuman powers: Maggott is a mutant who appears to have a telepathic rapport with the two enormous slugs that accompany him. These slugs, which are the size of small dogs, can apparently devour any form of matter at great speed. The slugs appear to have a symbiotic relationship with Maggott, the nature of which has yet to be explained.
