Left-Winger
Real
Name: Hector Lennox Occupation: Wrestler, former employee of the Super-Patriot Identity: Secret Legal Status: Citizen of the United States with
no known criminal record Other Aliases: One of the "Buckies" ("Bold
Urban Commandos") Place of Birth: Chicago, Illinois Marital Status: Single Known Relatives: Unnamed mother Group Affiliation: Former member of the Buckies,
current partner of the Right-Winger First Appearance: (as one of the Buckies) CAPTAIN
AMERICA #323, (as Left-Winger) CAPTAIN AMERICA #341
History: Hector Lennox served four years in
the United States Army. Disillusioned because he saw no action
during his peacetime service, Lennox signed up for the Power Broker's
strength augmentation process. He joined the Unlimited Class Wrestling
Federation as a wrestler. Later, his army friend John
Walker, the U.S. Agent, asked him to become a member of his
Bold Urban Commandos, or "Buckies". The Buckies wore
variations of Captain America's costume and originally pretended
to support Captain America. The Buckies pretended to attack the
U.S. Agent at a Central Park rally as a public relations stunt.
The Buckies also conducted a campaign of intimidation and even
physical attacks against foreigners as part of an antiterrorist
campaign. (No evidence has been recorded that the Buckies targets
were in fact guilty of terrorist activity.)
Angered by the Commission's decision, and feeling betrayed by Walker and Hoskins,
Lennox and his partner assumed the costumed identities of Left-Winger and Right-Winger
and upstaged the new Captain America at a press conference in Washington D.C.
There they revealed his secret identity on national television. Learning this
fact, a group of self-appointed moralists known as the Watchdogs, whose radical
moral crusade the new Captain America had suppressed, kidnaped Walker's parents
to lure him into a trap. During the ensuing melee, Walker's parents were shot
and killed.
Walker went berserk and sought revenge upon Left-Winger and Right-Winger, whom
he blamed for his parents' deaths. He hunted them down by threatening their
own parents and he finally confronted them at an oil refinery outside Dallas,
Texas. Blind with rage, the new Captain America easily defeated Left-Winger
and Right-Winger. He tied them to an oil tank and handed Left-Winger his torch,
challenging him to burn through the cables before Right-Winger's torch ignited
the tank. They failed to do so and the oil tank exploded, leaving Left-Winger
and Right-Winger near dead.
Whereas a normal, unprotected human being would have surely died from the explosion,
it is believed that the Power Brokers strength augmentation process also increases
the subject's resistance to injury.
Walker was later told the two took their own lives in the
hospital, rather than live in agony. Walker investigated
the claim by exhuming their bodies and discovered it was
true.
