History: Empath is the son of an impoverished noble Castilian who can trace their lineage back to the ancient Romans. Empath provided unwanted assistance to Thunderbird I in his attack on the X-Men, using his powers on Firestar in the process. Enraged, the White Queen temporarily deprived Empath of his powers. In revenge for his defeat by the X-Men, Empath arranged for the kidnapping of New Mutants Magma and Sunspot by the Gladiators.
