Almost nothing is know about the background of Quincy McIver before he became Cottonmouth except that he was criminally active in the southern portion of the United States. Invited to join Sidewinder's Serpent Society, Cottonmouth accepted. As an active member of the Society, Cottonmouth has faced Captain America in combat on more than one occasion.

Strength Level: Cottonmouth possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build, who engages in intensive regular exercise. The strength of his jaw muscles, however, are superhuman, and he can bite with sufficient force to crush cinderblock or deform metals softer than iron. His jaw muscles possess sufficient stamina to enable him to hang from a rope by his teeth for an hour before he begins to tire.

Known Superhuman Powers: Cottonmouth's jaw and neck were apparently bionically enhanced. Cottonmouth's teeth have been replaced by steel, and he has a jaw that is specially hinged like that of a real snake, enabling his mouth to open larger than the size of a human head. Cottonmouth uses his jaws and teeth as an offensive weapon as does a real snake.
