Sebastian Patane entered the criminal world not as a costumed operative, but as a strategist—someone who understood that power did not always come from direct confrontation, but from control, organization, and the ability to position others as expendable pieces. By the time he surfaced in New York’s underworld, he had already adopted an identity that carried weight: the Organizer.
The name was not new. Years earlier, another figure had used it to command the original Ani-Men, a group of animal-themed criminals who operated as coordinated agents against opponents like Daredevil. Patane revived both the title and the concept, not as an imitation, but as a continuation—reshaping the Ani-Men into a new iteration under his direct leadership.

Unlike the earlier Organizer, who largely remained behind the scenes, Patane was more directly involved. He did not simply command the Ani-Men; he defined their structure and purpose, assembling them as tools to execute his operations with precision. The animal motif remained intact, but under Patane it was less about theatrics and more about function—each member chosen to fulfill a role within a controlled system.
Operating out of New York, Patane set his plans in motion, using the Ani-Men to carry out criminal activities that would strengthen his position and expand his influence. His methods relied on coordination and pressure rather than spectacle, but it was inevitable that his activities would attract attention. Daredevil, long familiar with the Ani-Men and their history, became the central obstacle once again.
The confrontation unfolded as a clash between two very different kinds of control. Patane sought to dominate through structure—through planning, delegation, and the assumption that his operatives would carry out his will without deviation. Daredevil countered with adaptability, dismantling the system piece by piece rather than confronting it head-on all at once.
As the conflict escalated, the weaknesses in Patane’s approach became clear. Like the Organizer before him, he depended heavily on the reliability of those beneath him. When the Ani-Men began to falter under pressure, the cohesion of his operation weakened. Daredevil exploited those fractures, disrupting the group’s coordination and isolating its members.
In the end, Patane’s control proved incomplete.
The Ani-Men were defeated, and with them, Patane’s operation collapsed. His attempt to reestablish the Organizer as a lasting force in the criminal underworld failed in much the same way as the original—undone not by lack of planning, but by overreliance on a system that could not adapt once it began to break.
Sebastian Patane’s time as Cat-Man and the Organizer was brief, but it reinforced a pattern already established in the history of the Ani-Men. The idea of a perfectly controlled criminal unit—structured, themed, and directed from above—was inherently flawed. No matter who led it, the result was the same: initial coordination, inevitable resistance, and eventual collapse.
Patane did not redefine the legacy of the Ani-Men. He confirmed it.
