Bi-Beast
FIRST APPEARANCE: Incredible Hulk Vol. 2 #169
HISTORY: The Bi-Beast was created many years
ago by the Avian race (a sub-species of the Inhumans, which
are a sub-species of humanity). The top skull was given knowledge
of warfare while the bottom skull was given cultural knowledge,
but both lacked knowledge of science. Eventually, the Bird
People seemingly died out and their machines ceased function.
The Bi-Beast remained on Sky Island, alone and waiting.
The Bi-Beast abducted the Harpy; whose wings made her resemble
the Bi-Beast’s creator; and the Hulk, bringing them
to Sky Land. The Bi-Beast forced Banner to repair the Bird
People’s machines, but Banner instead tried to cure
the Harpy. Before he could finish, the Bi-Beast attacked,
fighting the Hulk until MODOK and AIM arrived and claimed
the island, mortally wounded the Bi-Beast. Rather than let
Sky Island into AIM’s hands, the Bi-Beast activated
its self-destruct mechanism.
The Bird People had made (at least) two Bi-Beasts. Another
Bi-Beast gained the knowledge of its predecessor, as well
as the scientific knowledge of the Bird People. S.H.I.E.L.D.
unwittingly brought the dormant Bi-Beast aboard their Helicarrier.
The Bi-Beast revived and quickly took control of the ship,
planning to slaughter the human race for destroying the Bird
People. General Ross Managed to transport the Hulk aboard
and he stopped the Bi-Beast from launching nuclear missile
at Earth. After a brutal struggle, the Bi-Beast and the Hulk
were dumped out of a portal, plummeting many miles to the
ground below.
Bi-Beast was washed onto an Island, and enslaved the crews
of passing ships; he repaired Sky Island and prepared to attack
humanity, but was defeated by Thor. He was freed by the Man-Beast,
who siphoned off his power, making the Bi-Beast smaller although
it retained its strength. Both were defeated by Thor and Iron
Man.
Bi-Beast eventually became a prisoner of the Stranger on
his laboratory world under unknown circumstances. The Strange
briefly freed him to obtain the gems known as the Family Jewels,
during which time he fought the Hulk and She-Hulk.
The Hulk and his fellow Defenders were transported to the
new Sky Island, where he encountered the Bird People who had
survived in suspended animation. The Hulk immediately attacked
Bio-Beast, refusing to back off until the Valkyrie calmed
him down.
