Very little is known about the early life of Alejandro Montoya, the masked swashbuckler known as El Águila. Born in Spain, Montoya is a mutant whose superhuman abilities first manifested during his teenage years. The circumstances under which he mastered the art of fencing remain unclear, as does whether he adopted the El Águila identity before immigrating to the United States or after his arrival.

After coming to America, El Águila began targeting criminals operating on the margins of society, with a particular focus on drug traffickers, slumlords, and others whose illegal activities most directly exploited the poor. It is widely believed that the money he seized from these criminals was redistributed to those in need. Because his vigilantism operates outside the bounds of the law, El Águila has been pursued by law enforcement and has clashed on multiple occasions with Power Man and Iron Fist.

STRENGTH LEVEL: El Águila possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise.

KNOWN SUPERHUMAN POWERS: El Águila possesses the ability to discharge electrostatic charges generated by his own body through a conductive medium. His body discharges a maximum of 100,000 volts at one time, sufficient to kill a man or to Stun a rhinoceros at ten feet. He can mentally control the Intensity of the blast, keeping it well within the non-lethal range. After fully depleting his store of bioelectricity, he it in one blast or successive blasts, it takes him one half hour to recharge back to full strength. When his power reaches its full charge, his body will naturally discharge any excess energy in minute, harmless quantities. His body generates and stores this bioelectricity in his central nervous system. The maximum range at which his blast can propagate through air at sea level is 30 feet.

LIMITATIONS: The major limitation of El Águila's bioelectric blast is that he must be in contact with a conductive metal in order to release it. Accordingly, he carries a sword through which he shoots his power. To protect the secret of his mutant nature, El Aguila deliberately misleads the public to believe that his sword houses an electric blaster.
